Is an actor a show-man?
Theater - literally the place where some people pretend to be someone else and other people buy tickets to watch them. We were in front of one white round building, the most famous on the world, entering to hear its history.
In front of Globe
How do the people enter theater today? Mainly nice dressed, eating ice-cream and drinking wine from fancy glasses between acts, talking about the performance...or weather during the break. Ladies wait patiently in front of the toilet to fix make up. When the show starts, the most of them, except some extremely rude beings, usually shut up, listen and clap at the end, at least from courtesy, even the show was nothing special.
Centuries and centuries ago, there weren't the toilets in Globe. Instead of drinks between the acts, people drink during the whole show. Of course, they didn't want to go out just to pee and to pay entrance again, so the toilet was everywhere. The main benefit of long ladies skirts was the takeaway private area they formed. People were tipsy, laughing, talking, calling out actors. That was the framework in which the actors performed, grabbing the attention, making the folks come out the theater with some point related to the show. You have to agree that the actors had to have the great show-man skills.
Outdoor scene
Globe museum - just one more example how the traditional meet modern in capital of UK. I had chance to play Juliet on Old English and record myself. After the official tour though Globe, just beside souvenir shop, some papers were posted on the rope. That was the small exhibition of people' messages, their answers on few different simple question. I add mine as well. Exhibition was a part of Refugee Week program.
"In response to Refuge Week (18 - 24 June), we will be presenting a festival of events exploring Shakespeare's response to refugees and refugees. Reading against our 'mountainish inhumanity', the week will kick off with a Read Not Dead reading of Sir Thomas More, First performed c1600, the play champions the plight of refugees and depicts the May Day riots of 1517, and the eventual demise of its eponymous hero", this was written in the brochure I took at info desk.
This is the answer I got from Globe office, regarding this event:
"This year is the first year we have done ‘Refugee week’ and we still need to discuss how it went across the board, but we are incredibly proud to have been connected with it, and of the work that was produced for it.
Michelle Terry is our new Artistic Director and this is her first season, so it will be her decision as to how many more events such as this we do.
I think Michelle would say that Shakespeare’s words and themes are as relevant today as they’ve ever been and some of the issues he addresses are still present today."
Jugglers, acrobats, clowns, magicians...they are show-men as well. What is the difference than? Props? When we want to have fun, relax our mind from everyday life, we can go to show open mouthed in front of their skills or laughing at their gags. Do people go to theater with the same expectations? Many yes. Not all of them.
Skill distinguish great actor of average actor. Attitude is addition which makes artists from actor. The great actor could be very convincing in passing the message and idea of the director and scenarists. But where is his opinion? It doesn't have to be presented obviously during every show, every scene. Beside theater, actor should fight for his own place in media. In that cases, he as individual has chance to influence people, as thinking, educated elite person.
Power of artists, power of theater is in the message they can send. That makes the theater cultural, educating institution. To make people laughing is skill, really strong skill. It is not the thing we should disregard. Definitely not!
Humor as a skill
However, if the laugh would be the only theater purpose, keeping reality of our planet far away from auditorium, where is the difference between theater and night clubs, circus, casinos or striptease bar, places which help human beings to toil reality faster?
Times changes. Globe follows. It is not just about modern technology or form of theater plays, but also in reminding the visitors to act like humans outside the theaters, regarding the new social changes and problems.

Finishing this texts, miles away from Globe, the Greenwich of theater world, I know that power of my Academic theater of Student Cultural Center of Nis could bring changes, as Hamlet in mister Raul's show from Girona, as wordless show on Polish streets about consumerism, you could read on my blog about.
In that name THANK YOU for spending 10-15 minutes here, instead of AliExpress, eBay, Amazon etc.
Many thanks to Schwarzkopf foundation for giving me opportunity to explore and meet great people.
